Trevor Keeper, a seasoned coach with a stellar track record in collegiate hockey, has been named the new head coach of the University of Regina Cougars men's hockey team.
Following Todd Johnson's departure after 12 seasons, Keeper steps in with a chance to return to his Saskatchewan roots and take the next step in his coaching career at the USports level.
“It was an intriguing position for me as it allows me to return closer to home, and I feel it’s a good challenge for me to help restore the Cougars program,” Keeper told the SportsCage.
Born in Regina and raised in Yorkton, he brings a wealth of experience, having most recently led the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings to back-to-back Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) championships.
His knack for building competitive and resilient teams is undeniable.
In his new role, Keeper is set on elevating the Cougars within the Canada West conference.
“I want to make the Cougars program a place where players want to come play, and I believe that success can do that,” he shared.
With a focus on skill development and personal growth, Keeper is committed to fostering a culture of excellence and accountability, preparing his players for success beyond their collegiate careers.
As the Cougars gear up for the upcoming season, Keeper's leadership is expected to bring a renewed sense of direction and purpose.
Keeper says recruiting for the 2025/26 season is well underway.
