Saskatchewan Raiders stay perfect at NFL Flag Football Championship

The Regina/Moose Jaw team representing Canada at the second annual NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio, will go into the playoffs with a perfect 4-0 record thanks to a pair of victories in the boys 14 and under international category.

The Regina/Moose Jaw team representing Canada at the second annual NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio, will go into the playoffs with a perfect 4-0 record thanks to a pair of victories in the boys 14 and under international category.

In their first game, Hudson Belsher threw two touchdown passes to Dylan Ward and one to Xavier Gatin in a 21-9 win over Puerto Rico. One-point converts went to Ward, Gatin and Brinley Deis.

In the second game, Canada played Mexico in a battle of 3-0 teams, and it was a close one at halftime as Canada led 14-13. The Canadians dominated the second half scoring 13 points to win 27-13 to finish in first. Belsher and Deis connected on two touchdown passes with Ward catching the other touchdown pass. One-point converts were made by Gatin and Ward.

With the two victories, Canada finishes first in the international 14u division with a record of 4-0 and will play Germany Saturday morning in a quarterfinal game at 9 a.m. A win in that game would send them to the semi-final at noon with the final going at 3 p.m.
