Reigning Prairie Football Conference offensive player of the week, Peter Brosch, had another dominant day. Regina’s running back ran for 219 yards on 29 carries and a touchdown in the Thunder’s 46-21 win in Calgary yesterday.
Tanner Donovel was Regina’s top receiver, grabbing four passes for 68 yards and a 22-yard touchdown.
Quarterback Adam Mosher was 13 of 20 for 163 yards and a touchdown.
Overall, the Thunder offence generated 423 yards of net offence while the defence held Calgary to just 166 yards of net offence. Calgary’s running game gained just 16 yards on 13 carries.
The Thunder's defence was led by linebacker Kenten Effa, who had five defensive tackles, an assisted tackle, and a quarterback sack.
Devin Baumann also had an outstanding game with three defensive tackles, an assisted tackle, a special team tackle, a QB sack, a tackle for a loss, a blocked kick, a pass knockdown and a fumble return for a touchdown.
Kicker Shawn Green led the Thunder scoring with 20 points on five field goals, two singles and three converts.
The Thunder play their 2025 home opener against the Edmonton Huskies on Sunday, August 24. Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Leibel Field.
In other week two PFC action, Saskatoon found the win column. The Hilltops picked up their first win of the campaign with a 46-6 triumph over the Edmonton Huskies in their home opener yesterday afternoon.
Hilltops running back David Collins had 11 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns to lead Saskatoon offensively. In total, the Hilltops ran for 336 yards in the victory. Saskatoon will host the 2-0 Winnipeg Rifles next Sunday.
