The road to the Canadian Bowl begins on Sunday, October 19, for the Regina Thunder.

After finishing first place during the 2025 Prairie Football Conference (PFC) with an impressive 7-1 record, the Regina Thunder are set to host the Edmonton Huskies in semi-final action.

The winner will move on to the PFC final against Saskatoon or Winnipeg.

Kick-off is set for 1 pm this Sunday at Leibel Field.

The Thunder beat the Huskies 31- 16 and 57-7 in their two regular-season meetings.

Head Coach Scott MacAulay is proud of the team’s 7-1 regular season record and first-place finish because it speaks loudly of the team’s positive culture and the overall commitment each player has to the Thunder program.

“We know that Edmonton is a very talented, hard-working team that is well coached and competitive. “I really believe in our guys, and if we continue to maintain our focus and stay true to our game plan, we will have a very good chance to win this weekend and move on to the PFC championship game.”

Thunder Team President Murad Al-Katib is excited for the return of postseason football.

“There is nothing better than playoff football in Saskatchewan. Our team is very excited about playing in front of our dedicated and loyal fans, and we thank all of our sponsors and volunteers who make the Thunder game day such a positive experience.”

The Regina Thunder wrapped up the regular season with a 56-3 win over the Edmonton Wildcats.

Snow fell in Regina on Sunday, so the Thunder turned to the run game and pounded their way to a victory, clinching first place and homefield advantage.

The Thunder shattered a CJFL team rushing record in a single game, combining for an eye-popping 632 yards on the ground.  Peter Boersch and Carter Ashman rushed for over 200 yards, scoring a touchdown.

Jackson Harnett scored two touchdowns, and Jayden Zelionka, Jakeb Cortus and offensive lineman Caleb Barajas added one each.

Seven rushers carried the ball 44 times, helping them set the new record of 632 yards. The previous mark was 588 yards, set by the Edmonton Huskies in 2002.

Quarterback Adam Mosher completed three passes, one of which resulted in an Andrew Sweeney touchdown.

The Thunder defence forced five Wildcat turnovers, and Lucas Dakiniewich had the lone sack.
