Week one of Canada West football action is fast approaching and a sure sign is the release of the annual preseason coaches poll.

Prior to the start of every season, all six Canada West coaches are asked to rank the teams in the conference in order of finish. Prior to kicking off the 2025 season, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies received the most first-place votes, four. The only other team to receive first-place votes was the University of Manitoba Bisons with two.

Overall, the Huskies were the top-ranked team, followed by the Bisons. The defending Hardy Cup Champion University of Regina Rams, who will host the Vanier Cup, were rated third. However, only three points separated the Bisons, Rams, and University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, who are fourth. The University of Calgary Dinos finished fifth followed by the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The 2025 season kicks off on Friday with the University of Calgary Dinos hosting the University of Regina Rams at McMahon Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. You can hear the game on 620 CKRM starting with pre-game coverage at 5:15 p.m.

Other week one action has Manitoba visiting UBC Thursday night and Saskatchewan at Alberta on Friday.
