CFL Week 19 Power Rakings

The B.C. Lions are in the top spot for the second week in a row. Despite being on a bye week, the Lions, who have won four games in a row, seem to have peaked at the right time. The offence, led by Nathan Rourke, continues to tear up yards and put up points, while the defence has found its footing and is becoming dominant.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders move up this week from number three to number two. Thanks to a win over Toronto in Week 19, the Riders have clinched top spot in the West Division and, perhaps more importantly, a chance to heal up in the depleted defensive backfield.

Despite a dominant 30-10 win over Ottawa on Thanksgiving Monday, the Alouettes are down a spot this week from second to third. The Alouettes look like the best team in the East. The question is, what do they need to do to convince the contributors?

The Calgary Stampeders are up a pair of spots to number four this week. The Stamps scored an impressive 37-20 win on the road in Hamilton against a Tiger-Cats team that needed a win to clinch first in the East. Coming off a bye week, the Stamps looked refreshed and refocused. Can they continue that trajectory over the final two weeks of the regular season to lock up a playoff spot and a home playoff game?

Conversely, the Tiger-Cats are dropping a spot this week. Hamilton slipping to number five is a result of a bad showing against Calgary. The Tabbies had a lot to play for but came out completely flat, which is definitely concerning for head coach Scott Milanovich at this stage of the season.

The Edmonton Elks could climb a spot and into sixth place thanks to a season-saving win over Winnipeg. The Elks got the 25-20 win, but they didn’t win by a big enough margin to claim the season series over the Bombers. Some question the coaching, and the collaborators say a win is a win.

Dropping a pair of places from fifth to seventh are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Is the streak of five straight playoff appearances coming to an end? The only constant in Winnipeg has been the team’s inconsistency in putting all three phases of the game together.

The Toronto Argonauts are staying in eighth. The Boatmen, having been officially eliminated from the postseason, are playing out the string with injuries throughout their lineup.

The Ottawa Redblacks continue their run in the basement. The Redblacks look like they have thrown in the towel. The contributors are debating making this ranking out of 8, as there is no way they can see to rank them any higher than ninth the rest of the way.
