Adam Korte delivered a stellar outing for the Swift Current 57’s, tossing nine innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts, but it wasn’t enough as the 57’s fell 2–1 in 10 innings to the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Monday.

Mavs starter Luis Diaz was equally sharp, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out nine. Tyler Cutler threw two scoreless innings in relief to earn the win for Medicine Hat (32–17), who sit second in the WCBL East.

Both teams scored in the third before the Mavericks walked it off in the 10th. Swift Current drops to 10–38.

The teams meet again Tuesday night at Mitchell Field in Swift Current. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.

Meanwhile the games in Okotoks, the double-header between the Dawgs and Fort McMurray Giants, did not go ahead.

The Giants announced that “Due to field conditions, and with concerns for our players health & safety”, the Giants did not take the field.

The two games are now under protest with the league.
