Medicine Hat Mavericks 1, Saskatoon Berries 7

After seeing their win streak end Sunday in Swift Current, the Saskatoon Berries responded in style Tuesday night, defeating the Medicine Hat Mavericks 7-1 to take over first place in the WCBL’s East Division.

Nathan Houston, Abiam Medina, and reigning Rookie of the Year Carter Beck each recorded two hits to lead the Berries' offence, as Saskatoon improved to 8-2 on the season.

Jeremy Freeman Jr. and Yusei Uzawa had two hits apiece for the Mavericks in the loss.

The teams will square off again Wednesday night at Cairns Field, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.

Moose Jaw Miller Express 1, Weyburn Beavers 13

The Weyburn Beavers’ offence exploded Tuesday night at Tom Laing Park, rolling past the visiting Moose Jaw Miller Express with a dominant 13-1 win.

Ian Heck did it all—delivering a two-run single in the first inning to spark a 3-0 lead and finishing the game with three hits and three RBIs. He was just as strong on the mound, tossing a complete game. The Antelope, California native allowed just one run on four hits over nine innings, striking out nine and walking four.

Weyburn returns to action Thursday night at home against the Regina Red Sox. Moose Jaw will try to end its two-game skid Wednesday night at Ross Wells Park when they host the Okotoks Dawgs.
