There were four games around the Western Canadian Baseball League on Tuesday night.
The Regina Red Sox opened their four-game Alberta road trip in Brooks last night. The Sox took an early 2-1 lead through four innings before the Bombers exploded with three runs in the fifth inning, two in the sixth and three in the seventh for a 9-3 lead after the seventh inning stretch.
However, in the eighth inning, the Red Sox bats came alive, loading the bases for Ian Montz, who would smack a grand slam home run on the second pitch that he saw, part of a six-run inning that would tie the game at nine.
The game would need an extra inning to decide the outcome, and in the bottom of the tenth inning, Brooks scored the walk-off run for a 10-9 win.
Meanwhile, the league-best Saskatoon Berries would pick up their 32nd win of the season in Okotoks. The Berries broke a close game open with seven runs in the top of the sixth inning. Cory Wouters went 4-for-6 with three RBIs in the victory for Saskatoon.
In Saskatchewan, the Weyburn Beavers snapped their losing streak with a 5-4 extra-inning win in Moose Jaw. The Miller Express tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. However, in the 10th, Weyburn would steal a run for a 5-4 win. The loss drops Moose Jaw to 16-22, five and a half games back of the Regina Red Sox.
