After a season-opening shutout loss in Weyburn, the Saskatoon Berries have bounced back in a big way, notching their third straight win with a 9–4 victory over the Swift Current 57’s on Monday night at Cairns Field.

Local standout Chase Wouters paced the offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate including a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. Teammate Ethan Murdoch also went deep, helping the Berries improve to 3–1 early in the 2025 Western Canadian Baseball League season.

Robert Bonilla got the start for Saskatoon, allowing just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out four. He was the first of five Berries pitchers used in the game.

Swift Current starter Nkosi Didder gave up five runs on eight hits through five innings, striking out three in the loss, dropping his record to 0–1.

The Berries are back in action Tuesday night at Cairns Field as they host the Fort McMurray Giants. Meanwhile, the 57s, still searching for their first win of the season, will try to break out of a five-game skid when they return home Wednesday to face the Lethbridge Bulls at Mitchell Field.
