The Regina Red Sox Report is brought to you by Unifor 594, energy workers putting the care in career since 1942. Safety is our Business
The Regina Red Sox bats came out swinging to start the week in Saskatoon, but despite lighting up the scoreboard, the Sox fell just short in a 12-10 slugfest against the league-leading Berries. The rematch back home didn’t go their way either, as the Berries took both ends of the home-and-home series.
Midweek brought a spark and a double-header sweep. The Sox rolled into Swift Current on Wednesday night and took care of business, notching back-to-back wins.
Back at Currie Field on Thursday, it was WCBL’s Game of the Week, and it lived up to the hype. Fans were treated to an absolute barnburner — a 19-16 shootout that ultimately went the way of the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
The Sox wrapped up the week with another pair of games against Saskatoon, and on Saturday night, the club delivered. Regina snapped the Berries’ 11-game win streak and handed them their first home loss.
With that, the Red Sox are at an even .500 and hold down third place in the WCBL East Division. The club is 11 games back of Saskatoon for top spot, now past the midway point of the regular season.
