Showcasing the boys of summer.
Time for another edition of the SportsCage Regina Red Sox reports on 620 CKRM. For Unifor 594, energy workers putting care in career since 1942, safety is our business. I'm Tegan Witko.
Last week started off heavy for the Regina Red Sox. After learning pitcher Jesse Lubinicki died on the drive home to Regina just days prior, he was slated to start his second year with his hometown team. The club will be donning a number 33 patch in his memory this season. The Sox came out on top that night, dedicating the win to their fallen teammate. They downed the Medicine Hat Mavericks 14-9 and went on to split the two-game series.
The club hit the road for a pair of games in Swift Current later in the week, earning a W in both contests. The weather posed a bit of a problem this past weekend at Curry Field. Saturday's game against the visiting Fort McMurray Giants was paused for the evening and resumed on Sunday, ahead of the regularly scheduled afternoon game. The Sox came out on top in both of those contests.
A solid week for the club overall, with five wins and just a single loss. The boys of summer prepare for the week ahead with a home-and-home against the Swift Current 57s, Weyburn Beavers, and Medicine Hat Mavericks.
