The Regina Red Sox are just one win away from the Western Canadian Baseball League Final following another dramatic extra-inning finish.
Coming off a sweep of Medicine Hat in round 1, the Sox opened the East Division Final in Saskatoon with an 8-7 win in 11 innings in the bridge city last night.
Regina jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but Saskatoon stormed back with seven unanswered runs across the third and fourth innings.
Ian Montz hit a solo homer to cut the lead to one, and a Jalen Meyers RBI tied it in the seventh.
From there, it was a bullpen battle until the 11th inning.
Jordan Tucker reached on a fielder’s choice, moved to third on an error, and scored the game-winner on Zayd Brannigan’s clutch two-out single.
Reliever, Ayden Page shut the door from the mound, tossing four scoreless innings with six strikeouts to earn the win for the Sox.
The Red Sox look to punch their ticket to the finals tonight. First pitch at 7 at Currie Field. If needed, Game 3 goes Tuesday night in Saskatoon.
