The Regina Red Sox will play Tuesday’s game against the Medicine Hat Mavericks with heavy hearts.

The Red Sox are mourning the tragic passing of Jesse Lubiniecki.

Lubiniecki was entering his second season with the Sox and just finished his sophomore season at Taft Community College with the Cougars.

A Regina native, Lubiniecki, was on his way back to Saskatchewan from Taft, California, when he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover in Rosebud County, Montana.

Lubiniecki pitched in four games with the Red Sox in 2024.

The Red Sox released the following statement on Lubiniecki’s passing.

“The Red Sox organization would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his parents, Noel and Kim, and his brothers, Luke, Layne and Fiancée Cathy. We will play out the season with #33 in our hearts.”
